If you fill in the suitability questionnaire on this website this will give you the first indication that you are suitable. The consultation with the optician is to go through various other physical tests like pupil size. It the optician then confirms that you are suitable then you can start treatment. There is no reason that the treatment would not work for you if the optician is happy with all the tests. If the optician thinks there are potential issues they would inform you at this stage and it would be then be your choice to proceed or not.

The confirmation that the treatment has worked is straight forward and simple. You perform the standard eye test to check that you have 20/20 vision. In fact your vision will be better than 20/20 in the morning and most peoples vision remains one line better than 20/20 for most of the day. The treatment is designed to give you 36hrs perfect vison to make sure that you get a full days vision before you re-insert your lenses each night.

You cannot swim in daily soft contact lenses but you can use iGO vision.

There are two main problems with wearing conventional soft daily contact lenses when swimming. The first is that they can get easily lost and float out if you get splashed or open your eyes under water. But the most important reason is that the swimming pool water can enter into the contact lens and increase the risk of getting an eye infection. Wearing swimming goggles can help, but even then you can get water in swimming goggles. 

One of the many advantages of iGO is that your eyesight  is corrected overnight which means that you can swim without having to worry about the risk of eye infections. This makes iGO lenses the best contact lens for swimming because you don't actually wear them while swimming!

Find out if you are suitable

Sph refers to your vision prescription whilst cyl and axis together refer to astigmatism. If there is a -/ minus sign in front of the sph reference, it means you are shortsighted or myopic (ie difficulty in seeing distant objects clearly). If there is a +/ plus sign it means you are either longsighted or hyperopic (ie difficulty in seeing near objects clearly) if you are below 40 years old but it can also relate to your reading prescription when you are older as you develop presbyopia.

i-GO requires specialist training and additional equipment not found in all opticians. The lenses are custom designed for you, they are not "off the shelf" like soft lenses. It requires additional time, care and experience to successfully fit i-GO lenses.

To ensure you achieve maximum vision correction it is recommended that you wear your lenses for at least 6 hours whilst sleeping. If on occasion it happens that you do not wear the lenses for sufficient time - on a flight for example - after which you need to drive; simply reinsert your lenses and you will see perfectly.
