Who is Suitable

  • Those who are Shortsighted
  • Have a prescription of up to -5.00D
  • Have mild astigmatism of -1.50D or less
  • Are not suitable for laser surgery either because they are too young, suffer from dry eye or are simply too nervousOVC lenses are prescribed for two purposes:
    • For adults - to correct shortsightedness and astigmatism. They can also be used to correct presbyopia if you are shortsighted so that you don't need reading glasses. There are numerous benefits for adults

• For children - To slow the progression of childhood myopia. (Read more about myopia control.) and as an alternative to glasses over conventional contact lenses and glasses.

You are most suitable if you are short-sighted with a prescriptions up to -5 D with up to 1.5 D of astigmatism. You could also be suitable if your prescription is higher though it can be more complicated. Other factors things like pupil size and the shape of your eye affect your suitably and this will be checked at your consultation appointment.

  • Who is NOT Suitable
  • Diabetics
  • Prescriptions higher than -5.00D
  • Those with astigmatism greater than -1.50D
  • OVC does not correct long sightedness (hyperopia) or age-related problems with reading (presbyopia)
  • Those with inflammation or infection of the eye/ eye disease, injury, or abnormality that affects the cornea or surrounding tissue. Eyes that are red or irritated, or suffer severe dryness
