LONDONERS LOSING SIGHT OF SAFETY -New survey reveals commuters' need for alternative eyesight solutions

Londoners with visual impairments are willingly risking the safety of themselves and other road users, by not wearing their prescription lenses and glasses whilst cycling or driving. A new survey conducted by igolenses.com reveals 250,000 shortsighted Londoners admit to regularly cycling through the capital without their daytime contact lenses or glasses, while over one in six (17%) confess to driving without their vision aid.

The everyday inconvenience and impracticality of glasses and daytime contact lenses may be the reason, as over half of those surveyed (51%) complain their glasses are not practical in the rain, and one in three (32%) deeming their glasses unsuitable during physical pursuits. Daytime contact lenses are equally limiting, with over one in six (17%) experiencing progressive itchiness and dry eye and some people (6%) complaining their daytime contact lenses inconveniently fall-out from time to time.

As the number of cycling journeys in London reaches half a million , driven by the rising cost of fuel and congestion zone charges, it's critical shortsighted cyclists and drivers act responsibly.

Shelly Bansal, independent practitioner in Greater London and Head of Professional Services for i-GO Overnight Vision Correction (OVC) contact lenses, comments: "These survey results show busy 24/7 commuters in the capital need a healthy, practical alternative to traditional glasses and daytime contact lenses. Marking the first real consumer breakthrough in eye care since the introduction of laser surgery, i-GO OVC contact lenses are a non-surgical reversible process that works overnight, gently reshaping the cornea so that light correctly focuses on the back of the eye (the retina).

He continues: "The cornea is elastic, so when the lens is removed in the morning the cornea retains the shape, enabling wearers to see clearly all day right until they reinsert their lenses that night before going to bed, without the need for conventional daytime contact lenses or glasses. It's as effective as laser surgery, but without the risks - or the price tag!"

i-GO OVC contact lenses also offer shortsighted Londoners with hectic lifestyles the freedom from conventional contact lenses and glasses during the day, and the ability to see clearly 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They are available exclusively from i-GO accredited eye care professionals. Interested consumers can contact the i-GO Call Centre on 0800 077 8185 to be directed to their nearest outlet, or visit www.igolenses.com for a full list of accredited opticians.
