Reversibility of ortho k lenses confirmed
Anyone who is concerned as to the reversibility of orthokeratology lenses need not worry.

A study carried out by the Department of Opthalmology, Institute of Clinical Medicine at the University of Tsukuba in Japan has confirmed that the procedure is completely reversible.

Results, which were published back in February 2009, showed that the eye always returned to its normal form once the ortho k lenses were taken out for any length of time.

In its conclusion, the study showed "that the effect of orthokeratology is completely reversible in light of optical quality of the eye and quality of vision as well as refraction and visual activity".

It was found that the eye returned to its normal shape within a week of discontinuation of ortho k lenses.

A total of 17 subjects took part in the study which lasted a year.

The news will come as a relief to some who may have wondered about the long-term effects of the overnight treatment.

As it is reversible, it is a great option for sports players who may not want to put their eyes at risk with laser surgery, which can leave irritating after-effects such as ghosting.

All kinds of shortsighted sports players can benefit from trying the sports contact lenses.

Day wear lenses can often be an irritation for sporting professionals with the risk of them falling out or becoming dislodged a distinct possibility, as well as of course being difficult to swim in or compete in riskier sports such as boxing.

As they are worn at night and taken out upon awaking, ortho k lenses are perfect as it means you can forget about any visual aids in the day.
