They may not be the type of people many would consider to have problems with glasses, but a pianist has spoken out about an issue he had with them.
Stephen Hough, who is a concert pianist, has written a blog on the Telegraph website about his issues with specs.
Had he known about
ortho k lenses, they could have avoided any trouble, but Mr Hough had to learn about the problems glasses can lead to the hard way.
"I was wearing my usual nerdy glasses and was working up a sweat in the last movement of Prokofiev's sixth sonata," he wrote.
"The last furious page tore along to the concluding hammering chords
I flung my head back on the last 'DA' and my glasses flew back off my head, landing on the floor about ten feet behind me."
Afterwards he decided to opt for contact lenses, but noted that it is not good to wear them "all the time".
He also noted the difficulties of wearing them on a plane, a necessity for many people who work in music.
Mr Hough would be a great candidate for
ortho k lenses, should he suffer from shortsightedness.
Worn at night,
orthokeratology lenses help to reshape the eye while asleep and are removed in the morning.
The wearer is then able to see clearly without the need for glasses or day wear lenses.
For a passionate musician such as Mr Hough, or even for people who enjoy going to gigs and watching their favourite bands,
ortho k lenses provide a great alternative to glasses.
