Many of us will experience eye-related problems at some point, be it a bit of blurred vision or maybe conjunctivitis or dry eyes.
However, with many people spending longer and longer in front of computer screens, TVs or mobile phones, good vision is becoming increasingly important.
London's Evening Standard newspaper has highlighted the problem, and optometrist Brian Tompkins has spoken about
what causes dry eye.
"People become so intensely focused they just forget [to blink]," he said.
"Combined with the effect of air-conditioning, your eyes can get really dry and even inflamed. An easy trick to remember is to blink every time you hit the return key."
For people who wear contact lenses, they may find that their dry eye problem is exacerbated even further.
Ortho k lenses could be the answer to the problem.
Worn at night,
ortho k lenses are the perfect alternative to irritating day lenses - as they are taken out in the morning there is no need for any additional visual aids during the day.
They can help reduce the effect of dry eyes as the eye is free of any paraphernalia and open to air.
