A Californian optometrist, who is a keen advocator of ortho k lenses, has given his opinion about overnight vision correction.
Speaking to the Ventura County Star, Dr Richard Anderson suggested that the lenses were "an amazing technology".
Dr Anderson, who is the only fellow of the
Orthokeratology Academy of America, added: "The most exciting patient is the young person who is becoming [shortsighted].
"I have observed the lenses control and, in most cases, actually stop the progression of [shortsightedness] (myopia) in
children."
He added that his first patients when he opened his
ortho k business in the US state were his two daughters - proving that he had faith in overnight
vision correction lenses.
Dr Anderson also noted that many of the patients he now treats with ortho k lenses see results from the first night they wear them.
Ortho k lenses can be a great option for shortsighted people, with no more worrying about day wear contacts or glasses, they can be a godsend to those that use them.
