Many people may believe that getting eye laser surgery will be the end to their visual problems.
However, Lasik is not the be all and end all and for some, glasses may still need to be worn.
The issue has been highlighted by Ivan Penn, writing for the St Petersburg Times in Florida, who has noted a Consumer Reports study that found that 55 per cent of Americans who undertake eye laser surgery still sometimes need glasses or lenses.
According to the publication, Dr John Santa, director at the Consumer Reports Health Ratings Centre said: "Laser vision correction surgery is a largely unchecked industry and consumers need to know the right questions to ask."
For anyone looking for an alternative to the problems of eye laser surgery,
orthokeratology could be the answer.
The special lenses, which are worn at night and taken out in the morning, help wearers to see clearly in the day without the need for invasive surgery.
