A group of Japanese people with visual problems have filed a lawsuit against a company that tried to cure them.
Around 50 people were affected by poor procedures at the Ginza Ophthalmologists in Tokyo, the Manichi Daily News reports.
According to the newspaper, the suit claims that the clinic head Tomoo Mizoguchi failed to sterilise equipment properly before the patients underwent Lasik eye surgery.
"Despite recognising that there were infection outbreaks as early as 2007, Mizoguchi failed to take any countermeasures," it adds.
The patients filing the suit are aged between 18 and 58 and had operations from September 2008 to January 2009.
Although Lasik surgery may work for some people, ortho k lenses are a great alternative for anyone looking for a less invasive way to get their
natural vision back.
Worn at night, the lenses can be stopped if the wearer experiences any problems, meaning that there are hardly any long-term effects from wearing the lenses.
