Eye laser surgery complications can be avoided by following the correct aftercare programme, according to new advice from Eyeinfo.com.
The advice says that three appointments should be made to see a specialist following treatment, to make sure that any problems are spotted quickly. The timescale of the appointments will depend on which sort of surgery has been performed.
Patients should also bring a friend or relative with them to the surgery to help them get home afterwards, as eyesight is blurred following the procedure.
People should be careful not to rub the eye area, which may feel sensitive for two or three months after surgery.
Glasses may also need to be worn for around three weeks after the procedure to correct the long sightedness that can occur immediately following eye laser surgery.
Washing the area around the eyes and showers should be avoided for a couple of days after surgery and driving should be avoided for a week.
In terms of long-term aftercare, the website suggests avoiding submersing the eyes in water, so swimming is not allowed for three months. On top of this, sun beds should be avoided for a three-month period and makeup should not be worn for a few weeks.

eye laser surgery side effects.
Worn overnight, the
ortho kcorrective contact lenses gently reshape the eye and can be taken out during the day, removing the need for contact lenses or eye glasses.
The resulting natural lens-free daytime vision that
orthok contact lenses provide eliminates the need for the last resort of eye laser surgery.
