Lasik eye surgery is one way to cure visual problems, but it does not come without risks.
Now, the Harvard Medical School has highlighted issues around the surgery.
Published in the Steuben Courier, the advice suggests that the surgery is not for everyone.
"If you have certain eye conditions, are pregnant or breastfeeding, take medications that might affect your vision or have certain diseases
you are probably not a good candidate for the procedure," the advice suggested.
It also added that people that work in aviation may want to consider other options.
For those looking for a more natural way to cure their visual woes, ortho k lenses may be the answer.
Worn at night, they can help restore vision by reshaping the cornea and once taken out the wearer need not worry about glasses or contact lenses for the rest of the day.
Those who work in the aviation industry could benefit from the treatment - if for any reason you are not happy with them then the shortsighted person can simply stop wearing the lenses, meaning there is little chance of any long-term problems that may be experienced with Lasik eye surgery.
