Many are scared about the risks of eye laser surgery.

To negate some of the fears, a surgeon is to undergo eye laser surgery live to help people understand the procedure.

Australian Dr Con Moshegov, said that many people were afraid of going blind, but they needn't be.

"Most patients don't realise that not a single person has ever gone blind as a result of laser vision correction in the decades this treatment has been performed," he said.

Dr Moshegov added that many patients were "surprised" at how quick eye laser surgery was and he noted that most "don't feel a thing while under the laser".

The doctor is to undergo the surgery live and comment on the procedure as it is happening.

He added that he had "no reservations" about partaking in the live broadcast.

Among the celebrities that have had the same procedure he is to have are Tiger Woods and LeBron James.

Despite the side effects of eye laser surgery being minimal for most, there is a natural alternative that can help restore sight with no risk at all – ortho k contact lenses.

Ortho k contact lenses are worn at night, reshaping the cornea while the wearer is asleep.

They are a great way of helping natural vision return without the need for any invasive procedures.

Once awake, the wearer simply removes the ortho k contact lenses, also known as overnight correction contact lenses and will be able to see perfectly clearly for the remainder of the day.
