Kids discuss contact lenses for sport
Many kids are opting for contact lenses over glasses for more than just vanity.

That is the opinion of 12-year-old Alex Henderson, who told Christi Myers at Eyewitness News that playing sport means she needs to avoid specs.

Alex's mother said that contact lenses "have been just wonderful" and that wearing glasses during sport is a worry as they "can be sharp".

Her sentiments were echoed by fellow school pupil Bianca Amador, who said that she "loved" her contact lenses.

However, for parents and children alike there is a great alternative option, that of ortho k lenses.

Although contact lenses are obviously preferable to glasses in sport, not wearing any vision paraphernalia could be very freeing.

The overnight vision correction lenses help to restore the eye to natural vision, meaning that there is no need to wear contacts or lenses during the day - especially good for children that enjoy a rough and tumble and parents who worry.
