Women need to educate themselves more about eye care, it has been claimed.
Kerryne Krause-Neufeldt, chief executive at eyeSlices, said that there are many things that can affect eyes.
"Lifestyle can affect your eyes like your diet, lack of exercise, not having enough sleep; even having a good mattress or pillow can hugely help with sleep," she said.
"Women are very self-conscious about their eyes and so we have many women saying 'look at my terrible dark circles' and I don't think they look bad at all. We seem to be our own worst enemy but it is an area that women do struggle with."
Ms Krause-Neufeldt added that drinking two litres of water a day and doing 15 minutes of exercise three times a week was also important.
For women who want their eyes to look their absolute sparkling best, glasses may not be preferable.
However, there is an alternative to the risks of eye laser surgery and the irritation of day wear lenses -
orthokeratology.
Ortho k lenses are worn overnight and help to gently reshape the cornea while asleep, leading to
natural vision for the whole of the next day.
The best part is that the wearer does not even need to keep the contacts in, they are removed in the morning and vision can be helped for as long as 36 hours, meaning you only need think about them again before you go to bed.
They are great for busy working women who don't want to be spending their day thinking about their vision -
ortho k lenses help the wearer to be free of any vision paraphernalia at all.
