Everyone knows that looking after eyes is important.
As such, National Eye Week has been announced by the Eyecare Trust.
This year, the week will begin on November 9th with people asked to consider the impact their lifestyles have on their eyes.
Iain Anderson, chairman of the Eyecare Trust, said: "Many people are aware of the impact that smoking and drinking can have on eye health, but there is very low awareness of the effects of other conditions, such as obesity."
His sentiments were echoed by Abby Bowman, senior brand and PR manager of Simplyhealth, who also urged people to make sure they visited an optician regularly.
Anyone who is concerned that they may have to wear glasses as a result of a visit to the opticians should consider the option of ortho k lenses.
The overnight vision correction lens reshapes the cornea so that
natural vision returns once awake.
It can be a great solution for all kinds of people - from those who are concerned about
laser eye surgery risk to others who are physically active and want to avoid wearing sports goggles.
