Hay fever symptom reduction tips for contact lens wearers
The seasonal condition of hay fever affects many people in the spring time, with eyes being a particular source of irritation.

An overreaction to pollen by the body means that eyes can become itchy with sneezing, a runny nose and poor sleep also associated with the condition

The problem can be particularly troublesome for those who wear contact lenses.

As such, the Daily Mail has spoken to an expert to see ways of getting ride of it.

Optician David Burghardt said: "Contact lens wearers should try to opt for daily or disposable ones so ridding any pollen trapped on the lens."

Other suggestions include avoiding mascara as it attracts pollen and showering quickly when arriving at home from being outdoors.

Sunglasses can also help protect the eyes, especially wraparound numbers, as well as putting a small amount of Vaseline on nostrils to trap pollen.

I-Go lenses can also help those that suffer from the debilitating condition.

"As a severe hayfever sufferer I found that I could not bear to wear any make-up let alone contact lenses during the hayfever season. Then I discovered i-GO overnight vision correction lenses" says Ann McNaughton a 35-year-old estate agent from London. "Because I only wear these lenses at night as they correct my sight while I am sleeping then the irritation caused by problem is less of a problem and I can wear any type of normal sunglasses. Not to mention the everyday freedom they give me - they have been a godsend"
