Everyone who drives knows the importance of being able to see the road clearly when they are behind the wheel.

The Eyecare Trust has highlighted all of the issues that drivers need to be careful of when they take to the road.

Among the obvious, such as being able to see a number plate at a distance of 20 metres, it is also noted that being able to see clearly out of the corners of your eyes and not having double vision are also legal requirements.

If you get behind the wheel and you start an engine while suffering from something that impairs eyesight significantly, you are breaking the law.

However, there are other issues that can disadvantage drivers.

Wearing glasses can be an irritation, as sun glare and reflection can cause distractions.

In addition, contact lenses worn while driving may become uncomfortable and there is also the possibility of dry eyes from staring intently at the road ahead.

Ortho k lenses could help provide the answer that drivers have been looking for.

The overnight vision correction lenses are worn while asleep and removed in the morning.

They work by gently reshaping the cornea, leading to natural vision without the need for glasses, day wear contacts or eye laser surgery.

For drivers, ortho k lenses could be great - not only can they help with shortsight problems, but it can also help reduce issues such as glare on glasses and dry eyes.
