Glasses v ortho k lenses   |   26.08.2009

Glasses v ortho k lenses
Glasses can be a useful bit of kit for people but there is one disadvantage that they will always have compared to contact lenses - they can break.

Although contact lenses can get broken, glasses have a whole manner of different things that can happen to them - people can sit on them, the frame can fall out, the screws can come loose.

Sian Berry from the Green Party has written an article in the Guardian as to how to best look after glasses and it highlights the amount of problems that one can face from using them.

As an alternative, ortho k lenses could be the answer.

The overnight vision correction lenses are taken out in the morning after waking and as such do not face the daily wear and tear that glasses and day-wear lenses can face.

They work by gently reshaping the cornea to leave the wearer with better natural vision during the day and no need to wear any other visual aids.

If you are bored of spending money on repairs to glasses, ortho k lenses could be the answer.
