WHAT ABOUT THE RISKS OF SLEEPING IN ORTHOK LENSES?
Sleeping in Orthok lenses is quite safe and does not pose any risk. This is because Orthok lenses have been designed especially for sleeping in and have been independently tested to obtain the necessary approvals and appropriate safety marks. Opticians normally advise patients not to sleep in contact lenses because most contact lenses are designed for daytime wear rather than for sleeping in.
There are many health benefits to wearing overnight lenses compared to soft contact lenses. Overnight lenses are only worn for 6-8 hours versus up to 18 hrs for daytime soft lenses. They are made from a special material by Bausch and Lomb known as 'Boston X02' which lets the six times more oxygen into the eye than standard daily soft lenses - this is equivalent to the newer silicon hydrogel contact lenses.

IS THERE A RISK THAT I WON'T BE ABLE TO WEAR MY NORMAL GLASSES OR CONTACT LENSES?
No. The beauty of Ortho k overnight contact lenses is that the correction effect is completely reversible so you can return to your original glasses or contact lenses without risk should you ever wish to.
IS THERE A RISK THAT MY VISION WILL FADE BEFORE THE END OF THE DAY?
No. Orthok k overnight lenses are designed to give you more than a full day of good vision specifically to ensure that this does not happen. In fact your vision starts off better than 20/20 and this is what ensures that there is no risk of your eyesight not being 100% all day long. If you forget your lenses or miss a night you may notice that from about lunchtime onwards on the second day after wearing your lenses your vision may not be as good. However, you can simply insert the lenses and wear them in the daytime since they are fully optically corrected - you can see perfectly with the lenses in or out!
